Toyin Dada
Oluwatoyin means "God is worthy of our praise", and that name captures the essence of Toyin Dada.
Toyin, current host of the very FIRST African Gospel Music TV show aired in Canada "African Gospel Vibes with Toyin Dada" and 2011 recipient of the African Entertainment award for Best African Female Gospel artist, is driven by a desire to live a lifestyle of worship and dedication to God, in all aspects of life. She is truly a lover of God, and this is demonstrated through her diverse talents and initiatives. In addition to being a highly regarded singer/songwriter, Toyin is an accomplished dancer, drummer, musician, entrepreneur, community and youth activist and motivational speaker.
The elusive combination of talent and drive required for success is embodied in this dynamic young woman and her dedication to bringing change to her community through any medium possible: arts, mentorship, business, politics, or health. She brings her energy and infectious personality to young and old alike through many art forms, with an extensive repertoire spanning from theatre, to spoken word, to African dance. In addition to her BSc. in Biology, Toyin has received several academic and art related scholarships.
She is a founding member of the Youth ABCs (Ability to Bring Change) project which has currently trained over 400 youth across Canada on how they can change their communities. Toyin also continues to be an active member of her church, Christ Apostolic Church Bethel in Toronto, within the choir, children, youth and young adult ministries.
Toyin's budding career has been influenced by such artists as Brooke Fraser, William McDowell, Kim Walker, Lisa McClendon and Phil Tarver.
Her debut album 'Love Letters' is in stores RIGHT NOW! It is also available through iTunes and other online agents. She is currently working on her sophomore album "Broken Spirit, Contrite Heart", to be released spring of 2012.
Looking forward, Toyin continues to be an agent of positive change through her music, speech, and lifestyle, both at home and abroad while declaring with a prophetic utterance the mysteries of a love relationship between man and God.
