Welcome to the official web site of the first African cable Television Channel in Canada. African Movies and Entertainment Television (AMET-TV). AMET-TV will offer viewers 24 hours of high quality, intriguing television programming from the African continent. AMET-TV is a showcase for the African continent's most outstanding movies, television series, specials, documentaries feature films, musical video, event specials, biographies, soap operas, cultural and historical programs, shows that reflect the people of Africa, their incredible stories, their daily lives, their music and art, their successes, celebrations and challenges (both at home and in diasporal).

About Us

Afromedia Communications Incorporated (Afromedia) is a canadian company controlled by Kunle Oyegbola,Remi Awojide, Patrick Illuebey and Bolaji Olojede. Afromedia owns the broadcasting licence to operate AMET-TV, a national, general interest ethnic Category 2 specialty programming undertaking targeting people of African or Afro-Caribbean backgrounds.

AMET TV, from all indications will be the first cable television channel in Canada offering programming that is indigenous to Africa including movies, drama, plays and other theatrical presentations adapted for television and presenting the culture, art and lifestyle of Africans and people of African descent. 70% of the programming broadcast during the broadcast week will be in the English language, 20% in the French language and 10% in the Yoruba, Swahili, Hausa, Twi, Fante and Arabic languages. Also 15% of AMET TV programming would be made available in high definition format.

Africans and Afro-Caribbean currently make up about 2.5%, or 783, 795, of Canada's population, according to the 2006 census. By 2017, this demographic will reach four million.
